A recent news report, published today, Wednesday, has revealed the stance of Norwegian star Erling Haaland from Manchester City regarding a potential move to Real Madrid during the upcoming summer transfer window.
Haaland joined Manchester City in 2022, and his contract at the Etihad Stadium extends until the summer of 2027, with reports suggesting the existence of a release clause ranging from €150 to €180 million.
According to the British newspaper "Sun," Manchester City is fully aware of Real Madrid's interest in signing Haaland.
The newspaper also added that there is an intention within Manchester City to extend Haaland's contract until the summer of 2028 and raise his salary to €30 million per season in exchange for removing the release clause.
Furthermore, the newspaper revealed that Haaland is welcoming the idea of leaving Manchester City, especially if the interested club is Real Madrid.
The newspaper pointed out that Real Madrid fans are more enthusiastic about signing Haaland than Frenchman Kylian Mbappé, especially since Los Blancos are in need of a pure striker after Karim Benzema's departure.
It is worth mentioning that several previous reports indicated that Real Madrid wanted to sign Haaland before the player's move to City, and the plan of the Spanish club has not changed given the presence of a release clause in the Norwegian's contract with the Citizens.
The German newspaper "Bild" also noted that during Haaland's transfer to Manchester City, the Norwegian international insisted on including a €150 million release clause, which would be activated before the third year of his contract (next summer).
The latest controversy surrounding the young striker came after his agent, Mino Raiola, hinted a few days ago that "the door is open" regarding the player's future.
Raiola said, "The mystery of this story has always been beautiful because no one knows where he is... like a treasure chest."
He added, "An open door can mean many things... our players can feel that they control their destinies."
